With the longest day of the year coming soon, now is the time to photograph badger in daytime. I tried on Tuesday and this is what I got. I will go back as soon as I can. They are lovely creatures to photograph…
Last Sunday, I was back in my floating hide. The light was not great but the birds are getting use to see that green bubble going round the lake. I cannot wait for the grebe to hatch.
The tufted duck are really tame now. One female was sleeping 6 meters away. I could see the drops of water on her back. Beautiful…
A male tufted duck was looking for food in front of my hide. This picture was taken just after it came out of the water. you can see some “weeds” on his back.
Yesterday afternoon, I was back in my floating hide. This time they were some tufted duck amongst the water crowfoot. Again, it was spectacular. After taking pictures of those little duck, I went back to the grebe. I was lucky to get them very close. They are not fazed by the hide at all…. Incredible….
Anecdote: While in the hide, a massive carp almost jump above my camera. I did not expect that at all and for a few second I thought that they would be more than just water in my chest wader !!! Christ, I almost died of a heart attack…
I love those grebe
Yesterday Morning, I woke up at 4h00. I wanted to photograph red deer stag in velvet. I never have done it before. It was not easy to find a stag! They are very silent at the moment. The stag I came across promise to be a massive one. It was enormous. He had an enormous bellied. It reminded me of the bellied of a friend of mine….
While looking, I came across some fallow deer. They are also growing their antlers. I had a nice morning taking pictures of these beautiful mammals…
Fallow deer are beautiful. There is a melanistic fallow deer in the group. Can you se it? 🙂
Last evening, I did not have any booking. So, I went to my favourite place. The light was absolutely superb! I was in my floating hide and This time I got close to the grebe….It is always an incredible privilege to be near your subject, especially from a floating hide. At the moment the lake is covered with flower and it is quite spectacular. I had several species of good birds during my four hours stay in the hide. When I came out, I noticed that I had a hole in my chest wader, water everywhere! Bastard thing always gets punctured….
I cannot wait to go back…. here are a few pictures of last evening.
All those flowers are spectacular..
The grebes were incredible,beautiful bird.
The boss of the lake chassing another swan
This Sunday morning, I was at my hare paradise. What a place! I love it. All the fields are covered with buttercup. It was hard to find hares. The grass is growing extremely fast. I came across one very cooperative individual. The hare was feeding amongst flowers. To see all those flowers was spectacular.
Cracking brown hare feeding amongst buttercups.
This morning, I was in my floating hide. It has been a while since I use that hide. The weather was lovely this morning. At the moment, I have two nests of coots and one nest of great crested grebe. As it was my first time in the hide the grebe were a bit skittish. I did not dare go near them. On the other end the coots were very obliging. I can`t wait for tomorrow…..Badger and fox.
