Fox recce

March 31, 2014 by fred Leave a Comment

After a busy mother`s day lunch, I went to do another fox recce. Around 18h00 one male (The same as last week) Came out of his hole. This lasted 30 seconds. Foxes are extremely skittish! This male fox was spooked by a baby lamb! I could not believe it. I had time just to take one shot…and it was gone…few rabbits came out of their hole…and that was it. My recce was over. Today, Monday, I am knackered…The bastard clock has gone forward, I will need a month before my body get tuned to it……

A bit “Arty farty” This is a close up of a mute swan`s head. The weather look good for tomorrow. I will go on another fox recce….Can`t wait. But first I have got to go through mother`s day lunch. It`s always very busy. I hope that the garage will beopen tomorrow as I will have to find a way to get flower for my wife, or yet again, I will end up in the dog house…I seem to spend most of my time there! Hard life 🙂 🙂

Red fox recce

March 24, 2014 by fred 2 Comments

Yesterday evening, for the first time this spring, I went on a fox recce. I was sitting in a tree in front of a massive badger set. Yes, Fox are often in the same set as the badger. Nothing came out of the badger set but a male fox just walked by. he was marking his territory. It must have had a bladder the size of a rugby ball! he marked his territory at leat 50 time in 15 minutes.

Foxes must be one of the most persecuted mammal in this country…it`s a shame really as it is a magnificent animal.

Is Roger coming back in my Garden?

I just had a look on the BTO website and most of the cuckoo will be on their way back to England very soon.

Have a look: http://www.bto.org/science/migration/tracking-studies/cuckoo-tracking

The question is: Will Roger be back in my Garden? If he come`s back, this will be his fourth years. I cannot wait to see what is going to happened.

Woodland hide

March 17, 2014 by fred Leave a Comment

Yesterday morning, I was at my woodland hide. At the moment, pussy willow are in full bloom . I find them very photogenic. I was taking picture of different tit species, when I was interrupted by a lesser spotted woodpecker drumming above the hide. It was a cracking male. I stop taking pictures and followed the lesser spotted woodpecker over an hour…and then it disappear…blast!
