I had some time in the afternoon yesterday. So I dashed to my kingfisher hide for two hours….

Frederic

Crush landing 🙂 🙂

The bird seems to use the feather under his bill to guide him under water.

The dive, Always spectacular

Kingfisher

July 9, 2017 by fred 1 Comment

The Kingfisher is probably one of the most charismatic bird in Britain. Incredible colours and bad tampered! 🙂

I wanted to photograph kingfisher fishing. So I setup my own hide . Yes, I could have dished out £ 150.00 and go in one of those paying hide thing..

But I wasn`t interested. I wanted to do my own thing. I like to setup my hide , go on recce etc…

It just take some time. But the reward are extraordinaire, if it works of course.

Boy did it work! At the moment, I have four different birds. They are chasing each other, fishing, fighting, calling etc.. . It`s amazing to watch ….

These pictures were taken in two photographic session. This is a work in progress of course …will see what happened next…

Frederic

I got a kingfisher on a perch and I was very happy

Beautiful male..

The next challenge was to get the bird in flight…not easy…

I was over the moon with those pictures but I wanted more…

This male is going down like a rocket. the speed is amazing

Coming out of the water with his prize.

Just before eating his prize
