Woodland hide take 8

This afternoon, I went to my woodland hide for two hours. Again, very few bird. But a very classy one did turn up.I think that it is a first winter male. If anyone thinks that it could be a female, please I would be delighted to hear your opinion. It is a shame that the light was not better. But, that will have do for now.

The day before Christmas, I went to my woodland hide for a few hours. It was a weird day! The light was not very good but the number of species that came to the hide was incredible: I had a lesser spotted woodpecker singing above the hide, about 50 fieldfare came down to drink, the sparrowhawk came FIVE time and once landed on one of my post. Yes, he did and I missed the shot! and Yes, I did curse a lot! I am sure that it is only a matter of time before I get the little tike!
Since, that day the weather has been bad…I cannot wait for better weather…..at least last year we had snow on the ground and plenty of light….

Woodland hide take 2

Today, I went for three hours to my woodland hide. I have made some changed to one of the prop. I have saw some of the piece of steel. I wanted a different shot. They were a lot birds. I did not have to wait long for both woodpeckers, male and female to show up on my modified post. Suddenly, I heard a commotion and a kestrel appeared from nowhere. The bird landed first on my post and then went on the branch in front of the hide. What a cracking bird . This is the third species of raptor that I have seen at my woodland hide. I suppose that my feeding station is a bit like a supermarket for raptor. Twice the sparrowhawk came down but did not land and I had a buzzard once. The kestrel stayed for 25 minutes!!

I wish that it was like that every time I go to one of my hides…
