While recceing , I came across this Beautiful owl this late afternoon….What a bird!
There is a place about 5 miles from my home where there is a pair of barn owl. They have been there for years. The best way to photograph them is from the car. Early ..very early in the morning.
Three time the birds flew…From post to post….
I like the light on this one, lovely
The one that got away…Unfortunately the owl flew away from me. I can only think what would the picture had been if it had come towards me…
For the last Month , I have been trying to get picture of a local barn owl.
Out of 15 outing, I dipped 13 time. I could see the bird almost every time, but there was always something….
Three days ago, I did get quite close….They are still a big crop , but I like the colours….
Hopefully , I will have more chance to photograph this incredible bird.
Yesterday, I went back to see if I could do better with those buzzards. One “young” was perched on a pine tree. They are quite “easy” to approach at the moment.
I also came a across the feathers of a sparrowhawk . I don`t know what could have killed it? The feather were from a young bird. Probably another female sparrowhawk.??? Don`t know.
A superb barn owl was perched on a wood pile…they are always spectacular to watch….
The British countryside look stunning at the moment…Flowers everywhere…
Another recce. I was after hare in corn…but came a barn owl….
The barn owl was about 6/7 metres off the ground…on a dead tree…I was about 80 to 100 metres away and the bird did not seem to be worry.
500mm and 1.4
500mm and 2x slight crop
500mm and 2 time converter, heavy crop, Still 30mg file…
The picture quality taken with new 2 time converter with the new lens (Mk II LENS) is amazing…
This evening, The weather was superb! I was driving around in the barn owl area…My nemesis (The cattle) clocked me straight away but they were in another field. I was lucky for once. When I came across a hunting barn owl. I just had time to reverse the car…The owl was flying directly towards me and flew over the cattle. In the excitement, I only had time to take a few shot. This one is my favourite.
Tomorrow, I will get a lottery ticket 🙂
The weather has gone mad. Yesterday,We had snow in Buckinghamshire . In the morning I went to my woodland hide. They were lots of birds there. It was nice to photograph tit`s and Co. It is always challenging to photograph tits. They are very fast and never stop for anything, especially the coal and the marsh tit.
In the afternoon I had a drive down the barn owl area. I almost got stuck with my hairdresser`s car. It is very very wet everywhere. After an hour or so I spotted an owl on a post. The snow was coming down like mad.
Snow, especially falling snow always make a picture look special, whatever the subject. This is a big crop of the barn owl but I like the shot. It was late afternoon and the owl was probably very hungry….
Barn owl in the countryside is ALWAYS something magical to watch….
