Coming back from a recce yesterday. when suddenly I saw this common buzzard perched on a fence by the side of the road.
Turn back the car and drove towards the bird. stopped the car and took a few pictures…Very nice
Last Wednesday was an amazing day, One of those magic day.
The weather was lovely and I knew that all the farmers of the area would be harvesting wheat. During the afternoon, I went for an hour to see what I could photograph.
It was incredible
The harvest was fully on
The baling machine was baling straw
They were buzzard everywhere, I counted 12 birds.
It was amazing, and I could get close to them too
Here the buzzard is calling
It was nice to be able to capture all sorts of behaviours
Eating a prey
And flying from one bale to another…Beautiful
It was a buzzard day!
Even a Chinese water deer came out…
Yesterday, I went back to see if I could do better with those buzzards. One “young” was perched on a pine tree. They are quite “easy” to approach at the moment.
I also came a across the feathers of a sparrowhawk . I don`t know what could have killed it? The feather were from a young bird. Probably another female sparrowhawk.??? Don`t know.
A superb barn owl was perched on a wood pile…they are always spectacular to watch….
The British countryside look stunning at the moment…Flowers everywhere…
Yesterday was a beautiful day…late afternoon I went for a recce in a place that I know very well. I know it well because every time I go there I have to be on the lookout all the time…My nemesis is there. Yep, cattle…
I came across several raptor, red kite , buzzard, sparrowhawk, hobby.. I could not photograph them all but I was lucky with some…
This young buzzard was calling all the time…
Red kite backlit…beautiful birds…
My nemesis…lot`s of them too!
I have got to be careful when I am in that meadow…
Came across two buzzard while recceing. This was taken with the 7d mk2 and the new 100-400. This is the setup I use every time when I go on a recce. It is light and easy . This is the first shot I have taken with that combination…The Finnish photographers always have a camera with them where ever they go…I am going to do the same…I’ve lost count of how many times I could not take a picture because I did not have a camera with me…well not anymore! 🙂 🙂
Today, I went back to my field hide. I stayed there for 6 hours. It was very cold indeed! Apparently Buckinghamshire was the coldest place in the country with minus 18!
The only thing that came in front of the hide was a Buzzard. The bird stayed on a perch for 10 minutes and then flew away…
You cannot be lucky every time…..
This winter, the weather has been really bizarre to say the least…and at last we have a cold spell. This morning I was in my field hide. A buzzard came to feed. I was lucky! It is always very exciting to photograph a raptor. This buzzard was feeding on a road kill (A hare). During the year, every time I see a road kill, I try to pick it up.. I place them in a freezer and use them in the winter…Kind of recycling..
I have a special “road kill freezer”
