This morning, I went to see my local patch fish survey. I was very interested to know if the lakes on my local patch were teaming with fish.
The survey was done in two part. one part was done using electricity and the second part was done using a 400 metres net.
The net is released and left alone for several hours
While waiting the surveyors use electricity to survey the bank of the lake.
The electricity stun the fish for a few second and allowed the surveyor to catch it
A few fish are caught, mainly tench and pike
Most of the fisherman are waiting for the big reveal.
the second part of the survey has started , the 400 metres net is retrieved
It does look like a hard job…
the net is closing up…
The big moment has arrived…
Again, pike and tench were the most numerous fish.
I must say that it was something very interesting to watch
The surveyor explained to us that those marks on the tench were probably made by a Mink or an Otter
They were also some cracking looking specimen
