I have been very lucky recently. at my local patch i have come across lot`s of woodcock. No doubt on migration. It is a very difficult bird to find.

Sometime it is possible to get them very close. 200-600 mm and 1.4.

I think I saw one once last year – incredible camouflage, I was fortunate to see the fox who lives here this morning, he’s huge and looks really well and then, in the garden a tiny goldcrest – really sweet bird but very noisy for it’s size and both the green and spotted woodpeckers plus a hen pheasant so the Spring weather is definitely bringing them all out.
The soil here is a clay loam so lots of ants which the green woodpeckers love.
Hopefully a good week of weather to come for more opportunities .
