Amazing moment yesterday evening. A red kite was chasing a barn owl, the barn owl was coming back with a prey and the kite was trying to steal it from her. Amazing to watch.

That’s interesting, a week or so ago I heard what sounded like a fairly big fight between two birds, one of which I’m sure was a barn owl given the distinctive sound which continued as it flew off. I was really surprised as, probably naïvely, I had never thought of owls as aggressive. It was after midnight and pitch black so I couldn’t see anything but I wondered what it would have been fighting with – I thought of a red kite as they nest here but would a red kite be active after dark🤔, seeing your photo, maybe.
